Quick answers.
Why consider an electric vehicle?
EVs can reduce fuel and routine maintenance costs while lowering tailpipe emissions. They are especially well suited to everyday local driving when home or nearby charging is available.
How far can an EV travel?
Range varies by vehicle, temperature, driving style and battery size. Many current models are designed for several hundred kilometres of driving on a full charge.
How long does charging take?
Level 1 charging is generally overnight, Level 2 is faster for homes and destinations, and DC fast charging can add substantial range during a shorter stop.
Do EVs work in Northern Ontario winters?
Yes, although cold temperatures reduce range. Pre-heating while plugged in, winter tires and planning charging stops help make winter operation more predictable.
EV or hybrid?
A full EV can suit drivers with dependable charging and mostly local travel. A hybrid or plug-in hybrid may be useful for frequent long-distance or remote travel.
